Humshakal is the story of two persons whose faces are same but they are unknown to each other. One is Vinod a honest police officer staying with his mother, wife and daughter. Other is Sunil a criminal who is going to be hanged very shortly.

Vinods father in law is commissioner Din Dayal Kapoor, they both are fighting against terrorism. Vijays mission is to arrest Mr.DD who supplies weapons to the terrorrists

Vinod reaches DDs den while chasing a police officer who killed DDs right hand man, but could not escape. After being shot by DD he jumps in water, and ceases his life in operation theatre.

Commissioner Kapoor, shocked with this, decides to keep his death a secret.

Now Sunil comes in to the picture, Commissioner motivates Sunil to help him in discharging the incomplete duties of Vinod.
